The computer lab at Albany Elementary School recently underwent a major upgrade, following the efforts of local individuals working in conjunction with the Clinton County Schools technology department.

Jennifer Hastings Matthews, in a way to honor her grandparents, Beulah and David Branham, worked with Morgan Pence, Clinton County Farm Bureau Agent, to put together a combined effort that resulted in a tremendous boost to the AES Computer lab.

The efforts of Matthews and Pence resulted in a donation of several thousand dollars, and when combined with the efforts of the local technology matching fund, the purchase of 25 new computers for the students and teachers became a reality.

Beulah Branham spent much of her adult life caring for young children in her home, and many of those children who stayed in her home affectionately referred to her as “Boo”.

AES Principal Tim Armstrong told the Clinton County News last week in honor of Beulah Branham and in an effort to make sure her legacy continues, the lab will be named the “Boo Lab”.

“This will have a great academic impact on our children over a long period of time,” Armstrong said. “These fortunate children will never forget her love for them through her many kind deeds.”

Armstrong went on to note that teachers at Albany Elementary School will also benefit from the addition of the new computers in the “Boo Lab”, by being able to schedule time in the new computer lab to take several different on-line assessments, work on Accelerated Math, research information for class projects, and a host of other duties.

The computers were recently delivered to the school, and several staff members at Albany Elementary spent a recent snow day working to unpack and assemble the new computers in the lab.

Armstrong stressed the appreciation for this gesture from all of the AES faculty, students and parents and wanted to thank these individuals for their love of all children and their devotion to advancing the educational opportunities of the young students in Clinton County.
