Family and friends of Chris Thrasher gathered last week at the Clinton County Extension Office to announce the formation of a new memoriam that will honor Chris Thrasher who recently died at the age of 27.

The memoriam will be known as the Chris Thrasher Memorial 4-H Camp Fund, and will establish scholarships that will assist children who may not be able to attend summer 4-H camp.

Thrasher, who worked as a counselor at the area 4-H camp in Jabez, was also a former athlete who played football for Clinton County High School and later at Campbellsville University.

According to Clinton County 4-H Agent Junior Cecil, the fund was the idea of many of his friends and family members and will serve to honor him in a way that gives back to the community.

Cecil told the Clinton County News that the scholarship program will involve an application process and that exact details surrounding the scholarship will be announced at a later date. He added that a committee would be put in place to assist how the funds will be distributed to applicants.

The 4-H Agent also noted that the donations to the fund are being made by friends, family and community members who want to assist children attending 4-H Camp as well as honoring Chris and his love for the summer camp program.

“Anyone who would like to contribute to the fund please do so at the Clinton County Cooperative Extension Office,” Cecil explained. “We have had $10 donations and $300 donations. No amount is too big or too small. To this point we have received $1,256 dollars and are expecting other donations.”

Cecil said that the scholarship program directly goes along with the 4-H motto, which is: “To Make the Best Better”.
