The Clinton County Healthy Hometown Coalition held its March meeting last Friday afternoon at the Clinton County Board of Education office to discuss a host of issues being addressed by the group. Made up of community elected officials, school officials, members of the business and professional community as well as high school students, the Coalition works together on projects and events designed to promote healthier lifestyles in the community and especially offering healthier lifestyle opportunities for children and youth.
During Friday’s meeting, disucssions included plans to help promote the new Farmer’s Market in Albany, the construction of a new multi-purpose athletic field at Mountain View Recreation Park, and the addition of playground equipment near the recently installed playground at Mountain View Park that would be designed for toddler aged youth. Additionally, working to provide a venue for students to sell produce grown in a school garden was also discussed, as well as plans for the upcoming Run for the Roses 5K/1K run /walk slated for Saturday, May 7.
