Racket Dawgs hit the courts this week

The Clinton County Racket Dawgs began its season last week with a match against South Warren on March 12, 2016.

Clinton County picked up two wins in singles play with Zach McFall winning, 6-2 and 6-3, as well as Kyle Choate with a 6-2, 6-7, 5-7 and 10-5 score.

Matt Wells was defeated in singles play, 3-6, 6-2 and 5-10 as well as David Grey, 0-6.

On the girls’ side against South Warren, in singles play, Taylor Burchett lost 0-6 and in doubles play, the team of Mackenzie Kearney and Cheyenne Neal lost their match, 0-6.

On March 15, both teams took on Russell County in a home match with McFall, Choate and Wells all picking up wins in singles play. Gray was defeated in his singles play, 2-6.

In doubles play, the team of Matthew Hunter and Jackson Harlan won 6-3 and 7-5, while the team of Jared Grant and Alex Morrison won 6-4 and 6-2.

On the girls’ side against Russell County, Kearney picked up a loss in singles play, 0-8, as well as Mary Cross, 1-8.

In doubles play, the team of Kearney and Burchett lost 0-8, as well as Cross/Neal, 3-6, and Neal/Reagan Page, 5-6.

On Thursday, March 17, the boys’ team took on Metcalfe County at home with McFall picking up the only loss in singles play. Choate, Harlan, Gray and Frank Zheng all picked up wins in singles competition, as well as the team of Hunter/Wells and Grant/Morrison in doubles play.

The girls’ also took on Metcalfe County Thursday with the team of Kearney and Vivian Zheng picking up the doubles win, 6-0 and 6-2.

In singles play, Kearney was defeated 0-6 in both sets, Zheng lost 0-6 and 1-6, Neal was defeated 0-6 and Page lost 2-6 in Thursday’s match.

On Saturday, both teams traveled to Glasgow to take on Barren County.

Racket Dawg McFall lost his contest, 6-7, 3-7 and 4-6. Choate and Wells both won their singles matches respectively, as did the doubles match with the team of Grant and Morrision, 6-3 and 6-2.

The team of Hunter and Harlan lost their doubles match 1-6 and 3-6. Gray also fell on the boys’ side in singles competition, 2-8.

On the girls’ side, it was Kearney picking up the 8-5 win in one match.

Burchett and Neal lost their singles play matches, 1-8 and 3-8 respectively, and the team of Kearney and Neal lost in doubles play, 1-8.
