Winning entries from the ‘My Grandparent Should Be Grandparent of the Year’ essay contest

Three Clinton County Middle School students from the fifth grade have been selected as the top entrants in this year’s “My Grandparent Should Be Grandparent of the Year” essay contest.

Evan Little earned the top prize in the contest, which is sponsored locally by the Clinton County Retired Teachers’ Association.

Evan is the son of Rodney and Paula Little.

Evan penned his essay about his “Pa Tuddy”, Howard “Tuddy” Stockton. His essay will now be submitted to the Kentucky essay contest and will be judged against entrants from across the Commonwealth.

The second place essay in the contest was written by Braden Stockton.

Braden’s essay was about “Izzy”, his great-grandmother, Izora Stover.

Braden is the son of Leslie Stockton

There was a tie this year in the third place winner.

Loren Little wrote about her grandmother, Ruth Stockton.

Loren is the daughter of Rodney and Paula Little.

Also earning a third place win in the contest was Asa Flowers.

Asa is the son of Adam and Angie Marcum and Brent Flowers

Asa’s essay was about his Granny, Helen Shelton.

The three winners were recognized last week during a meeting of the Clinton County Retired Teachers’ Association.

The Clinton County essay contest is coordinated by Clinton County Middle School Language Arts teacher Kim Stonecipher.
