Yakmasters fishing club to host first tournament on Dale Hollow Lake

As the first of April and spring weather rolls around, citizens of Albany and Clinton County are itching to start enjoying the outdoors. If you love fishing and the outdoors then Saturday, April 2, will be perfect for all anglers and spectators alike.

The Bluegrass Yakmasters Club is coming to Clinton County to spend the day on Dale Hollow Lake for its first fishing tournament of the year.

The club is in its fourth year of exsistance and has chosen Dale Hollow Lake to be one of its many stops during this calendar year. One thing that makes this fishing club unique is they fish from kayaks. Kayaks are the only form of boat permitted in the tourament.

Dale Hollow is world famous for its fishing, holding the world record smallmouth caught July 9, 1955, which weighed in at 11 pounds, 15 ounces.

According to a press release issued by the Yakmasters, the group has requested to venture to some new waters this season and are looking forward to fishing on Dale Hollow.

The Bluegrass Yakmasters Tournament will run concurrent with the first ever Kayak BassFishing Trail Series Tournament (KBFT) on Saturday April 2 on Dale Hollow Lake.

Registration will begin at 5:15 a.m. at Dairy Queen in Albany, KY. Attendance at the morning registration is mandatory. Identifiers will be handed out after a short meeting around 6:30 a.m., and fishing will commence at 7:00 a.m.

Afternoon check-in will also be at the Dairy Queen in Albany, KY at 4:00 p.m. For every minute late there will be a 4” penalty if you are more than 15 minutes late your day’s catch will not count.

BGYM events are open to anyone, but to be eligible for the SC Wake Angler of the Year Race and all giveaways, anglers must be a BGYM member, fee is $30.

BGYM Tournament entry fee is $35, payable when signing up on TourneyX or at the host location.

Except for current ACA or KBF Members, a $5 ACA event liability insurance premium fee is required.
