A Tennessee man is facing multiple felony charges in relation to a residential fire that occurred in Clinton County earlier this month, according to Kentucky State Police.

Ricky Lee York, 28, of Celina, Tennessee was arrested on local charges on Thursday, March 17 while already incarcerated in the Clinton County Jail on a separate warrant out of Tennessee.

York has been charged with Arson-first degree, three counts of Wanton Endangerment, Criminal Mischief-first degree and three counts of Attempted Murder in relation to a residential fire that occurred Friday, March 11 at 77 Old Kentucky Road in Clinton County.

Three persons were at the home at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported as a result, however, the home was reportedly a total loss.

Albany Fire Department Chief Robert Roeper told the Clinton County News in a recent interview that when fire department personnel first arrived on the scene, the structure was fully engulfed in flames, making entry into the house impossible.

“When we arrived on scene, the structure was fully involved,” Roeper said. “Mike Walls was the chief on scene and it was determined that an outside attack was the only course of action. We couldn’t make entry.”

In addition to the main structure, an additional out building was also destroyed by the fire, but another nearby house structure was prevented by the department from becoming involved.

“There was nothing left to save,” Roeper said. “The buildings were really close together.”

Roeper said the house was involved with construction at the time of the fire and the fire originated in a location of the house where no electric had been hooked up.

“Witnesses said when they saw the fire it was on a couch in a room where there was no electricity and there was some stuff on the couch burning. We then contacted Alex Wesley of the Kentucky State Police Arson Unit.”

According to Clinton County Jail officials, York had been booked into the local facility on Tuesday, March 15 on a Failure to Appear warrant out of the state of Tennessee.

He was charged two days later in relation to the fire. According to officials at the jail, York is under at $100,000 cash bond and although in the custody of Clinton County, was being housed in the Russell County Detention Center as of this past Sunday, March 27.

York was scheduled to appear in Clinton District Court Wednesday morning, March 30 for arraignment.

The investigation is continuing by KSP Post 15 Arson Investigator Alex Wesley.

A outdoor playset was all that remained at the scene of a house fire in the Huntersville Community recently. An investigation following the fire has resulted in the arrest of Ricky Lee York of Celina, who has been charged with several offenses, including three counts of attempted murder.
