The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department would like to advise residents of another phone scam involving the Internal Revenue Service that has been going around again in Clinton County. The sheriff’s office reminds people the IRS will never calls anyone before sending a letter first.

The sheriff’s office appreciates calls notifying them of the scam but advise they can’t do anything about the calls. They do, however, advise anyone who gets such a scam call from someone posing as an IRS representative to report it by calling toll-free, 1-800-366-4484.
