Spring Showcase for Crafters

Spring Showcase for Clinton County Crafters at the Clinton County Public Library will be Tuesday, May 3 from 3 to 6 p.m. A great place to shop for Mother’s Day gifts! Interested crafters can call 387-5989 to reserve a table.

Early Childhood SBDM parent nominations

The Clinton County Early Childhood Center is accepting parent nominations for SBDM Council now through Friday, April 29. Voting will take place Tuesday, May 3 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shooting Stars for Christ

Shooting Stars for Christ, a free basketball program for boys and girls ages Kindergarten through age six, will be held each Monday night at 5:30 p.m. at Albany First Baptist Church. All children in this age group are invited to participate.

City council regular meeting

Albany City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, May 3 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public.

Youth Livestock Training meet set for May 2

Time is drawing near! All 4-H Camp Applications and monies are due by May 6, 2016 to the Clinton County Extension Office. Youth football camp is June 11

CCHS Football will be hosting the first annual Football Camp for grades 1st -6th on June 11th from 8am-3pm Cost is $30 per child.

Campers will learn offense and defense drills and compete for a trophy in areas of Punt, Pass and Kick.

A light lunch and drinks will be provided.

Camp forms can be picked up and dropped off at Mattress Plus in Albany, or you may call 931-854-7584 to obtain a registration form.

National Day of Prayer is May 5

National Day of Prayer, “Wake Up, Clinton County”, will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2016 between the courthouse and Clinton Jewelers at 6:00 pm. It is an urgent time for Americans to join together in presence as we pray for a repenting nation and the many needs of this nation’s people.

The Clinton County Health Department will be offering “Learning to Control Diabetes–Step-by-Step” classes each Monday in May, 2nd, 9th, 19th and 23rd from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and a Diabetes Club meeting June 7 from 1-2 p.m. on “Depression.” Sessions are free but pre-registration is required by calling (606) 387-5711.

Healthy Choices for Every Body

If the idea of eating nutritious food seems expensive and difficult, it may be surprising to learn it can be more affordable and simple to live a healthy lifestyle than you think. The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service makes the healthy choice the easy-and-affordable choice. Through the Nutrition Education Program’s Healthy Choices for Every Body series, participants focus on building a healthier plate, preparing easy meals that taste great and saving money on groceries. If so, the Cooperative Extension Nutrition Education Program will be hosting a Lunch and Learn class at the Clinton County Public Library Tuesday, April 26th at 11:00 am. Volunteer applications due soon

Clinton County Teen Leader and Adult Volunteer Applications for 4-H Camp are due on Friday, April 22nd. The applications should be turned in to the Clinton County Extension Office.

Run for the Roses 5K will be May 7

Clinton County Healthy Hometown will have its third annual 5K Run for the Roses and 1K Family Fun Run on Saturday, May 7 at Mountain View Park. Registration will start at 7 am , 5K race starts at 8:30 am. 1K starts at 10 am.

Adult registration fee $10.00 and all children are free.

Forms can be picked up at the Welcome Center or Wellness Center. Students will be bringing forms home as well.

2016 4-H Camp

You can pick your application up at the Clinton County Extension Office during the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Cost of camp is $205. Camp dates are June 6-10, 2016 at the 4-H Leadership Center at Jabez, Kentucky. We will require a deposit of $100 to hold your child’s spot. The rest of the camp fee will be due by May 6, 2016. Spots fill up quickly so get signed up as soon as you can. Campers age 9-14 must be in fourth grade. Campers in teens and teen leaders must be ages 15-17.
