Clinton County Fiscal Court held a brief special meeting last Friday morning, May 6 with four of six magistrates present and one item of business on the agenda.

The court, on a split 3-2 vote, approved second and final reading of a 2015-16 fiscal year budget amendment to include $240,844 for the Illegal Dump removal grant from the Kentucky Division of Waste Management and a $7,000 allotment to the Tourism Commission to implement the three percent transient fee on lodging establishments in the county.

Magistrates Terry Buster and Johnny Russell voted in favor, with Magistrates Ricky Craig and Mickey Riddle voting no. Magistrates Patty Guinn and Hershell Key were not present. Judge/Executive Richard Armstrong broke the tie with a yes vote to approve the budget amendment.

Magistrates Craig, Riddle and Guinn had previously voted against the measure, being in favor of the dump removal grant funds, but opposed to the transient fee allocation.

The next regular meeting of Clinton Fiscal Court is scheduled for Thursday, May 19 at 5 p.m. in the upstairs courtroom of the courthouse and is open to the general public.
