The Clinton County boys’ tennis team has reached the regional final for the first time ever.
Clinton County’s first round game came against Russell County where the Racket Dawgs took the match 3-0.
Zach McFall won his singles play match 6-3 and 6-1, while Kyle Choate won 6-0 and 6-1. To round out singles play, Matt Wells won his singles match 6-0 and 6-0. In doubles play, the team of Matthew Hunter and Jackson Harlan won 7-6 and 1-0, while the team of Frank Zheng and Jarred Grant won 6-1 and 2-5.
In the second round, the Racket Dawgs took on Monroe County and picked up a 3-1 win.
McFall, Choate and Wells all picked up singles wins against Monroe County while the team of Hunter and Harlan picked up a doubles win. Zheng and Grant lost their doubles match 3-6 and 0-6.
In the third round of the regional tournament, Clinton County took on South Warren, picking up the overall 3-2 win.
McFall and Choate won their respective matches, while Wells lost his match, 0-6 and 2-6.
In doubles play, it was the team of Hunter and Harlan picking up the win, but the team of Zheng and Grant lost 0-6 and 3-6.
The tennis team played this week for the regional championship on Tuesday, too late for press deadline, against Greenwood in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
