Scenes from the Clinton County Fair 2011

Fair board members take on all sorts of tasks in the weeks leading up to the Clinton County Fair, as well as during the week-long event itself. Above, long-time fair board member Dudley Pitt Hay had to rescue this young girl after she became stuck in the mud and lost her shoe after the conclusion of the 50 yard dash Tuesday night during the Family Night events.

Several dogs and other animals were on hand Thursday afternoon for the 4H-Pet show. Above, the first class of the pet show stood in front of the judges and awaited their awards.

Myra Honeycutt tossed a horseshoe Friday afternoon at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. The horseshoe tournament has been popular in the past and several tossers were on hand for the tournament.

After rains swept through Clinton County last Wednesday, several “small cars” were on hand for the compact car category of the demolition derby. Rains put the derby track in an almost perfect condition for slamming cars into each other.

Mud didn’t matter to these youngsters who competed in Tuesday night’s Tug of War contest. Actually, it mattered very little to the team in the background who won this heat and managed to stay clean.

There’s always plenty of water and mud in the lineup of contests during the Clinton County Fair Family Night Athletic Events. Above, two teams go at it in a head-to-head competition during the water bucket relay contest.

It wasn’t long after the start of the sack race that the spills started. Although several participants didn’t stay upright long, most finished the race.
