1. Exhibitors must be Clinton County residents.

2. Articles must be entered between 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15th.

3. There is no need to arrive in advance of the designated entry time. Doors will be locked during setup and volunteer orientation. Individuals will be allowed to enter items as long as they are in line no later than 11:00 a.m.

4. Upon arrival, each exhibitor must register and receive an Exhibitor Number Card. As items are entered, exhibitors will receive entry tags that should be kept in his/her possession until Cashout time on Friday, June 17th. The Exhibitor Number Card should be kept as well.

5. No person allowed more than one entry per class, but may enter in as many classes as desired.

6. If you cannot personally enter your items in the Exhibit Hall, you must make prior arrangements with staff at the Clinton County Extension Office.

7. Exhibitors may not receive multiple Exhibitor Number Cards in the names of other individuals or family members just to ensure that more items are entered.

8. All entries should be clean and made within the previous year by the Exhibitor unless otherwise noted; any article that has been exhibited at the county fair in past years is not eligible to compete for a premium. Items entered in Textiles Division may be entered in the year they are completed.

9. No new classes/categories will be made during entry time.

10. No Exhibitors will be allowed behind the curtain area during entry time.

11. No commercial exhibitors other than the professional photography class.

12. Only three ribbons will be awarded in each class. First place is a blue ribbon, second place is a red ribbon and third place is a white ribbon. Judges have the discretion of not awarding a first place blue ribbon if the product is not of blue ribbon quality. Further, no ribbons may be awarded if entries do not meet acceptable standards.

13. Articles must be picked up between 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17th. Also, pick up of exhibits (prior to Friday morning) means forfeiture of premiums unless prior arrangements have been made. Exhibitors must alert Extension Staff in advance if they are not able to pick up items during designated time on Friday so other arrangements can be made.

14. The Clinton County Extension Staff, Cooperative Extension Volunteers, or Fair Board will not be responsible for any loss. Every Effort will be made to prevent any losses. Decisions of the judges are final.

Divisions 100-900 Division 1000 – Family Farm Scene

Canning- appearance of pack, head space, preparation and selection of canned products; all items must be well sealed. Rusted and/or dented lids and bands will not receive premiums.

Sewing- Fabric, workmanship, general appearance

Crafts- design, color, workmanship, general appearance

Produce- freshness, maturity, color, proper size, uniformity

Floral- freshness, good foliage, insect free, plant and flowers grown by exhibitors, uniformity of arrangement

100 PHOTOGRAPHY DIVISION

No pictures will be accepted unless they are matted and/or framed. Name of the artist and title of photo must be on the back of the work. There is a photography section for professionals. All photographs must be the original work of the exhibitor. Individuals can only enter the professional or amateur division – NOT BOTH. Remember, only pictures taken within the previous year will be judged. The person entering the item cannot be the subject of the photograph. If you enter a picture of yourself, it must be entered in the new “Selfie” category.

If fresh flowers are used as a garnish they must be an edible variety. 1000 Family Farm Scene

In this category, these are county level only and will not go to state.

This project and exhibit is designed to motivate families to create a custom built farm toy

display. The family will create a realistic setting around manufactured or custom built

farm toys. Families are encouraged to display their artistic abilities and imagination in

this project.

General Rules:

1. Exhibits will be judged according to the following criteria: artistic arrangement of exhibit; detail of exhibit; and realistic setting around toys.

2. 48” X 48” Square maximum or smaller

3. Toys used in your display can be any scale desired; the preferred size is 1/64 or 1/16.

4. Model toys may be obtained at farm equipment dealers, department stores, farm stores, and farm toy shows. Farm toy stores will probably offer the largest selection of toys.

5. Landscape supplies can be obtained at hobby shops, craft supply stores, and some items may be found in your back yard.

6. If your Farm Toy Scene Project contains items you feel are valuable; they must be attached to the board.

7. Every effort will be made to keep your exhibit safe, but the Clinton County Extension Office or the Clinton County Fair Association is not responsible for lost or damaged items from your project.

8. One entry per family with all participating family member names attached to entry.

1100 Miscellaneous

Items that do not fit into any other category. These items will not be judged and will be for public display only.

Clinton County 4-H

Tuesday, June 14th is 4-H Activity Night 6:00 p.m. – 9:00p.m.

There will be “BB Shooting Competition” nightly so come out and test your skills!!!

4-H Exhibit Division

Rules:

1. All entries must be 2016 work.

2. Youth can only enter one item per class.

3. Entry time for all 4-H Exhibits – Wednesday, June 15th between 9:00a.m – 11:00a.m

5. Cloverbud entries are for youth ages 8 and under. Items will not advance to State Fair regardless of ribbon awarded.

4-H HORTICULTURE

566- Fairy Garden (will not advance to State Fair—County Only Competition)

A Fairy Garden is a miniature landscape created using small plants and accessories.

It can be the size of a teacup up to the size of a small chair. For more information, contact Linda Bell at the Extension Office (387-5404).

Folk Art:

729- Junior Folk Art: Items that have paint for decorative purposes on items other than canvas or paper. No clothing! The following items only accepted in this category: stool, gourd, or small box (any shape).

730- Senior Folk Art: Same as above.

Nature Crafts:

732 – Pebble Art – Pictures made using pebbles and rocks.

733- Junior Nature Crafts – Item made from natural materials only. NO KITS ALLOWED. Must include wire or hooks and be ready for hanging. (No other item allowed)

734- Senior Nature Crafts – Wall Wreath or hand carved native materials made from natural materials only NO KITS ALLOWED. Must include wire or hooks and be ready for hanging. (No other item allowed)

Drawings & Paintings

All drawings and paintings must be mounted on a sturdy background (mat board) and framed ready to hang with secured hangers on the frame (wire hangers). Do not use tape to secure wire hanger. No poster board allowed. Drawings and paintings must be framed.

Acrylic/Oil Painting:

751- Junior Acrylic/Oil Painting- Items that are made through the process of painting on paper or canvas, using any acrylic or oil process. Paint-by-number will be disqualified. No kits, original work only.

752- Senior Acrylic/Oil Painting- Same as above.

Watercolor Painting:

753- Junior Watercolor Painting-Items made through the process of painting on paper or canvas using any watercolor process.

Color Drawing:

4-H PHOTOGRAPHY

1. Specifications for exhibits: (Those not meeting specifications listed below will be disqualified)

a. General photography (levels 1 & 2): a 4-H’er can enter only 3 classes within one level per year (includes classes 760-766; classes 770-778).

b. Horticulture photography: a 4-H’er may enter any of the classes in addition to general photography.

c. All pictures must be made since the last County Fair.

d. Photos may be either Black & White or Color unless otherwise stated.

e. Digital images may be submitted in all classes, unless otherwise stated.

f. ALL CLASSES (including Horticulture) WITH ONE PHOTOGRAPH MUST BE MOUNTED ON 10”x 16” MAT BOARD-(no poster board or foamcore board accepted). Single photographs are limited to maximum size of 8”x 12”. Pictures cannot be framed or matted with colored mat board.

g. ALL CLASSES (including Horticulture) WITH MULTIPLE PHOTOGRAPHS (MORE THAN 1 PHOTOGRAPH) MUST BE MOUNTED ON 16” x 20” MAT BOARD (no poster board or foamcore board accepted). Pictures cannot be framed or matted with colored mat board.

h. Each picture must be mounted securely. Rubber cement or dry mounting tissue is recommended. DO NOT use photo mounting corners.

i. Pictures may be cropped (trimmed).

2. Photography will be judged on, but not limited to: Technical, impact, composition, creativity, presentation, sequence or collection and the ability of the picture to tell a story.

LEVEL 1

Purpose of this level is to promote Life Skills in the area of Communication, Workplace Competencies, and Foundation Skills through photography.

762 Single photograph; subject: still life (arrangement of inanimate objects. Definition of inanimate: nonliving things; something that never was alive, like a rock, buttons, a collection of toys, etc.)

LEVEL 2

774 My Community: Single photograph (your choice of subject) within your Community.

775 My Community: Collage of photographs (unlimited number of photos) on the subject of “My Community”. Size of each individual photograph shall be no smaller than a minimum 3.5”x 5” and no larger than a maximum 8” x 12”.

4-H HOME ENVIRONMENT

890 Cloth Project

Simple, small cloth item for the home created with no machine stitching.

Examples: knotted pillow (no applied design), place mats, draped valance with accompanying photo showing end result. Unacceptable: purses, tote bags, backpacks, duffle bags.

895 Restoration Project

This category is county level only and will not go to state. Recycle an object and make it into something useful or decorative other than what it was originally used for. Attach the name of the project created along with before and after pictures to your exhibit.

4-H LEGO CREATION

1. Entry consists of one Lego creation (not from a kit). Additional materials may be used to enhance creation.

2. Entry may be no larger than 9” X 13”.

3. Entry may be no taller than 12”.

4. Judging will be based on creativity and design.

4-H CLOVERBUD FORESTRY

First Year

CLO 703 A- Leaf Collections: Collection of 10 leaves representing 10 forest trees found in Kentucky. Mounting instructions in the forestry book, “4-H Forestry Project Unit I-Introducing Yourself to Trees” (4DF-01PA or most recent version) Activity #1 are to be followed.

CLO 704 B- Leaf Print Collection: Collect and print 10 leaves representing 10 forest trees found in Kentucky. Instructions in the forestry book, “4-H forestry Project Unit 1- Introducing Yourself to Trees” (4DF-01PA or most recent version) Activity #3 are to be followed.

4-H CLOVERBUD FOLK ART

CLO 720– Cloverbud (8 & under)

Items that have paint for decorative purposes on items other than canvas or paper. No clothing! The following items only accepted in this category: stool, gourd, or small box (any shape).

4-H CLOVERBUD NATURE ART

CLO 730– Cloverbud (8 & under) – Item made from natural materials only. NO KITS ALLOWED. Must include wire or hooks and be ready for hanging. (No other item allowed)

CLO 731- Pebble Art: Pictures made using pebbels and rocks.

4-H CLOVERBUD DRAWINGS & PAINTINGS

All drawings and paintings must be mounted on a sturdy background (mat board) and framed ready to hang with secured hangers on the frame (wire hangers). Do not use tape to secure wire hanger. No poster board allowed. Drawings and paintings must be framed.

Cloverbud Acrylic/Oil Painting:

CLO 750 A – Cloverbud (8 & under) – Items that are made through the process of painting on paper or canvas, using any acrylic or oil process. Paint-by-number will be disqualified. No kits, original work only.

Cloverbud Watercolor Painting:

CLO 750 B– Cloverbud (8 & under) – Items made through the process of painting on paper or canvas using any watercolor process.

Cloverbud Color Drawing:

CLO 750 C– Cloverbud (8 & under) – Items made through the use of drawing lines using pen, pencil, pastel, charcoal, markers or chalk.

Cloverbud Black & White Drawing:

CLO 750 D– Cloverbud (8 & under) – Items made through the use of drawing lines using pen, pencil, charcoal, markers or chalk. NO ADDITIONAL COLORS

Cloverbud Beading Project:

CLO 900 A-Any beading project made with pony beads and plastic lacing.

4-H CLOVERBUD PHOTOGRAPHY

1. Specifications for exhibits:

(Those not meeting specifications listed below will be disqualified)

a. General photography (levels 1 & 2): a 4-H’er can enter only 3 classes within one level per year (includes classes 760-766; classes 770-778).

b. Horticulture photography: a 4-H’er may enter any of the classes in addition to general photography.

c. All pictures must be made since the last County Fair.

d. Photos may be either Black & White or Color unless otherwise stated.

e. Digital images may be submitted in all classes, unless otherwise stated.

f. ALL CLASSES (including Horticulture) WITH ONE PHOTOGRAPH MUST BE MOUNTED ON 10”x 16” MAT BOARD-(no poster board or foamcore board accepted). Single photographs are limited to maximum size of 8”x 12”. Pictures cannot be framed or matted with colored mat board.

g. ALL CLASSES (including Horticulture) WITH MULTIPLE PHOTOGRAPHS (MORE THAN 1 PHOTOGRAPH) MUST BE MOUNTED ON 16” x 20” MAT BOARD (no poster board or foamcore board accepted). Pictures cannot be framed or matted with colored mat board.

h. Each picture must be mounted securely. Rubber cement or dry mounting tissue is recommended. DO NOT use photo mounting corners.

i. Pictures may be cropped (trimmed).

2. Photography will be judged on, but not limited to: Technical, impact, composition, creativity, presentation, sequence or collection and the ability of the picture to tell a story.

CLOVERBUD LEVEL 1

Purpose of this level is to promote Life Skills in the area of Communication, Workplace Competencies, and Foundation Skills through photography.

CLO 760 A – Single photograph; subject: a hobby

CLO 761 B – Sequence of three photographs; subject: a hobby

CLO 762 C – Single photograph; subject: still life (arrangement of inanimate objects. Definition of inanimate: nonliving things; something that never was alive, like a rock, buttons, a collection of toys, etc.)

CLO 763 D – Single photograph; subject: animals

CLO 764 E – Collection: Three different points of view of the same subject

CLO 765 F – My Community: Single photograph of a interesting building within your community (

Photo size is limited to maximum of 8” x 12”)

CLO 766 G – Five photographs of an event. Attach a description of the event to back of board.

CLOVERBUD LEVEL 2

Purpose of this level is to promote Life Skills in the area of Communication, Workplace Competencies and Foundation Skills through photography.

CLO 771 A – Single photograph; subject: person (photographic portrait of an individual)

CLO 772 B – Single photograph; subject: landscape [definition of a landscape: a picture representing a view of natural inland scenery (a portion of land which the eye can comprehend in a single view, including mountains, rivers, lakes, and whatever the land contains–trees, flowers, grasses, etc.).]

CLO 773 C – Collection: Three to five photographs of the same subject

CLO 774 D – My Community: Single photograph (your choice of subject) within your Community.

CLO 775 E – My Community: Collage of photographs (unlimited number of photos) on the subject of “My Community”. Size of each individual photograph shall be no smaller than a minimum 3.5”x 5” and no larger than a maximum 8” x 12”.

CLOVERBUD HORTICULTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES

CLO 780 A – Single black and white. Horticultural subject or activity.

(maximum size: 8” x 12”)

CLO 781 B – Single color. Horticultural subject or activity. (maximum size: 8” x 12”)

CLO 782 C – Sequence of 4 photographs. B&W or Color representing a

horticultural event or activity that tells a visual story,

chronologically, without the use of words.

CLO 783 D – Horticulture collection (B&W or color), consisting

of 6 photographs.

4-H CLOVERBUD HOME ENVIRONMENT

CLO 890 A CLOTH PROJECT

Simple, small cloth item for the home created with no machine stitching. Examples: knotted pillow (no applied design), place mats, draped valance with accompanying photo showing end result. Unacceptable: purses, tote bags, backpacks, duffle bags.

CLO 895 A RESTORATION PROJECT

This category is county level only and will not go to state. Recycle an object and make it into something useful or decorative other than what it was originally used for. Attach the name of the project created along with before and after pictures to your exhibit.

4-H CLOVERBUD LEGO CREATION

1. Entry consists of one Lego creation (not from a kit). Additional materials may be used to enhance creation.

2. Entry may be no larger than 9” X 13”.

3. Entry may be no taller than 12”.

4. Judging will be based on creativity and design.

4-H Tractor Driving Contest

Tuesday, June 14, 6:00 PM

Winners will move on too regional competition.

Rules:

4-H age is determined as age on January 1, 2016.

• Junior Division is for 4-H youth ages 12-14

• Senior Division is for 4-H youth ages 15-18

1. To compete in the tractor driving contest, all participants must be of sufficient physical size to safely operate all foot and hand controls from the tractor seat with the seatbelt fastened and properly adjusted.

2. Participants should be familiar with operating a tractor prior to entering event.

3. Tractors used in the contest will have an approved roll-over protective system (ROPS) and seat belt, and all participants are required to wear the seat belt when the tractor is in operation.

4. Each contestant is allowed time to familiarize themselves with the tractor and operate it under supervision for a short warm-up period.

5. Participants will be judged in both safety and skills.

6. The Clinton County Extension Staff, Cooperative Extension Volunteers, or Fair Board will not be liable for accidents.
