Summer 2011 – bring on the heat
I sat back and watched the clock Tuesday as the summer solstice arrived at 12:16 local time – finally marking the arrival of my favorite season.
As I pointed out last week, after the winter we had, followed by the spring that just couldn’t seem to get here, I have been looking forward to the arrival of summer for weeks.
First person that complains about the heat can just move up north.
Early indications for Bulldog roundball 2011 looking good
Basketball fans still have a while yet before they can whet their roundball appetites this fall, but according to info from head Bulldog coach Todd Messer, the outlook is pretty good.
Playing in the state AAU tournament last week in Lexington, the Clinton County team made it to the final round of eight teams before losing to Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park in the quarter-final round then posting a loss to Scott County.
Clinton County also put up wins against South Laurel, Bell County, Bourbon County and Buckhorn AAU teams, with a loss to the squad from Lexington Dunbar.
Not bad at all and it gives hoops fans something to look forward to for the next several months.
Of course, before we get to roundball, we first get to enjoy golf, cross country and football in the summer and fall seasons.
