Brazil is an awesome country for a mission. This was my sixth mission in this country that is so receptive to the Gospel. The country is beautiful, the people are so open and hospitable. Being around Brazilian Christians is a little glimpse of how wonderful heaven is going to be.

Nine Americans, ages 17 to 71, from Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky were joined by 24 Chilean and six Brazilian missionaries to minister in the communities of nine churches. Of the nine Americans, seven were from this area. They were Melanie Jones, Matt Savage, Ted Burchett, Mickey McFall, Keith McWhorter, SaraBeth Shrader (Harvey Dicken’s granddaughter) and Greg Tompkins of Burkesville.

The churches were well prepared having used Operation Andrew to schedule many visits. We were able to share in several schools and the Brazilian leadership estimated that we shared with 5,000 individuals, 496 indicating they prayed to accept Christ as savior. There were 116 rededications and 28 came forward expressing a special call of God on their lives. Many seeds were sowed and we will not know the results until we get to heaven.

Our Brazilian staff did a great job with preparation, budgeting and logistics. This made the coordinator’s job relatively easy. Thanks to Glaucia Vital and Laura Meloti for a job well done and to Casey Parks for a budget that was quite sufficient.

Ted Burchett of Albany, Kentucky shared, “God truly blessed this day. We visited a man who knew all about God. He was not a Christian. He had been told many years ago by a pastor that he had sins in his life that God would not forgive. He was told this because he was dating the pastor’s sister and broke up with her. He stopped going to church and stopped reading his Bible. After much conversation he repented of his sins and accepted Christ into his heart. He prayed, thanking God for sending someone who cared about him to Brazil.”

Tony F. of Georgia reported, “There are so many religions that are in the mission field sending out teams to win souls for their cause. On this trip, I met with people who believe in reincarnation, and a lot of others that believe you just need to be good to be secured of obtaining eternal salvation. We shared the Gospel with several people and families who just simply needed to hear the truth, and after hearing and seeing scripture with their own eyes we could see a huge weight lifted.” A good number prayed to accept Christ.

Mickey McFall of Albany, Kentucky stated, “Not to discount the professions of faith and the rededications, but I think sharing the Gospel at an elementary school was the highlight experience. While we were not allowed to give an invitation, we were permitted to share the good news of Christ with no restrictions. Approximately 200 students were in attendance, and their attention and interest level was excellent. Only God knows how the seeds planted will grow, but I am hopeful that the words shared will have a lasting and significant impact on their lives.”

Please pray about joining Greg Tompkins and me in Serbia, September 1-12, 2016.
