The Clinton County Grand Jury convened last Monday, June 20 with a light case load to consider. Only two indictments were returned in open Circuit Court by the jurors last week, including:
* The alleged offense of theft of a controlled substance against Laura B. Ford, when on or about May 14, she unlawfully took control of several pills identified as hydrocodone belonging to another person.
* The alleged offense of flagrant non-support against Tony Phillips, when on or about April 1, 2007 through June 20, 2011, defendant failed to provide support to his minor child or children, said failure to pay having resulted in an arrearage of $2,180 as of June 20, 2011.
(Editor’s Note: An indictment is a statement of probable cause to believe an offense has been committed and further court proceedings are warranted. Those individuals named in an indictment are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.)
