SODA meetings

The support group, SODA (Survivors of Domestic Violence), meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clinton County Health Department. For more information call 1-800-755-2017.

VA officer available

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday and Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

AA / Al-Anon meetings

AA and Al-Anon will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church.

Group fitness classes

Group fitness classes are being offered through the month of June at the Wellness Center.

Beginner Cycling classes are Monday and Thursday, 5-6 p.m. and Tuesday, 6:15-7:15 p.m. Beginner Step classes are Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m. and Zumba classes Monday and Thursday, 6:15-7:15 p.m.

Beginner Cycling and Beginner Step Aerobics classes are free with membership and offered to Center members only. Zumba classes are $2.50 per class for members and $5 per class for non-members.

VFW Buddy Poppy sales

The Albany VFW Post will conduct Buddy Poppy sales at various locations in Albany from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2.

Little Hills Animal Rescue seeking volunteers

Little Hills of Kentucky Animal Rescue, Inc. is seeking donations and volunteers for the U.S. 127 yard sale fundraiser, August 5 and 6. Local pickup for donated items is available. City Council meeting

Albany City Council will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, July 5 at 5 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the general public.

Introductory swimming lessons

Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center will offer introductory swimming lessons for ages 3 through 11 years, beginning June 6 and running through July 1. Space is limited and registration forms will only be accepted at the Wellness Center. Each session includes five swimming lessons during a one-week period and space is limited to six spaces per age group.

Class of ‘61 reunion

The Clinton County High School graduating Class of 1961 cordially invites everyone who was a part of our class during 1958 through 1961 to the 50th year class reunion Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the RECC building off Hwy. 90 in Clinton County from 1-5 p.m.

Class of ‘56 reunion meeting

Living Well with Diabetes classes being offered

Free Living Well with Diabetes classes will be offered on Wednesdays during July at the Clinton County Health Department. The classes will be offered on the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Also, an evening education class will be taught on August 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the first of two graduate classes (for individuals who have completed the four class series) entitled Diabetes and Kidney Disease will be offered Thursday, July 7 from 1-2 p.m. Pre-registration to the classes is required by calling 800-928-4416, ext. 1166. 37-2

July ‘around the square’ events

First Saturday, July 1: Jockey Days and flea market in the Foothills parking lot. You can sell anything and everything. Critters, antiques, garage sell, etc. Spaces are $5 and set up starts at 7 a.m. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. U.S. 127 Yard Sale and Roller Coaster weekends will also be included for a cost of $10 for space and only for Clinton County residents who have non-commercial items. Second Saturday, July 9: Gospel family entertainment on the Foothills parking lot stage. David McCarty is the coordinator and is looking for fresh local talent suitable for family audience.

Third Saturday, July 16: Antique, muscle and just plain cool car cruise-in around the courthouse. If you have a really good looking or nostalgic car, come on down.

Fourth Saturday, July 23: Mule and horse ride. Everyone will meet by Lisa Beard’s office across from Dollar General. Bring your kids, camera, buggy, sway back pony or coondog for a trail ride around the back streets of Albany.

Fifth Saturday, July 30: Day of rest!
