Clinton County Fiscal Court, after conducting its monthly meeting just one week prior, held a brief call meeting last Thursday morning, June 23.
There was only one item of business listed on the meeting agenda that could be officially voted on by the court.
A motion was made and passed unanimously to approve a list of “end of the fiscal year” fund transfers to assure county government ended the 2010-11 year with a positive fund balance.
The 2011-12 fiscal year, and new budget, officially takes effect this coming Friday, July 1 and runs through June 30 of next year.
Also during the meeting, with no official action being necessary, Judge/Executive Lyle Huff informed court members present that the Department of Transportation has now indicated to him that the rest of the Albany Bypass project may be bid in one lump sum, which may speed up the total bypass completion time.
Originally, the Transportation Cabinet had listed the project in phases for the overall construction project, three phases in all, beginning in northern Clinton County around Hwy. 90 and 127 on through to the Tennessee state line.
Also recently, city engineers informed Albany City Council that the Department of Transportation has now requested that all utility relocation being done in connection with the project be moved up and hopefully completed by this fall, as opposed to the spring of 2012.
No further actions or discussion was taken by the court prior to adjournment last Thursday.
Following the fiscal court meeting, the initial meeting of the recently appointed Magisterial District Reapportionment Committee held its first meeting and more details on that meeting and the reapportionment process in general can be found elsewhere in this week’s Clinton County News, beginning on page 1.
The next regular meeting of Clinton County Fiscal Court is scheduled for Thursday, July 21 at 5 p.m. and is open to the public.
