Candidates file for non-partisan races

A handful of people have filed thusfar for various non-partisan seats that will be up for grabs in the local election in November.

Two incumbents, Leland Hicks and Tonya Claborn Thrasher, have filed for re-election to the Albany City Council. A total of six council members will be elected for a two-year term.

In the race for school board, incumbent board member and current board chairperson Paula Key has filed for re-election in District Three, which includes the Highway, Illwill and Speck precincts.

In District Four, made up of North, East and West Albany, two people–neither incumbents, have filed for that seat as of the end of the day Monday, July 25. Those individuals include Donald Story and Gary Norris.

No candidate had filed through Monday of this week in the Distinct Two school board race, which takes in Seventy-Six and Cave Springs precincts.

Two people have also filed for seats on the Clinton County Soil Conservation District Board, including Greg Abston and Roger Beard.
