Burkesville All-Stars receive runners-up honors in World Series, has ties to Clinton County

Above, the Burkesville All-Stars placed second in the eight and under World Series held in Jensen Beach, Florida last week. In the front row, from left to right are: Kelsie Waid, Mollie Vincent, Abby Morgan, Kenzi Willen, and Kailey Brown. Second row from left to right are: Zoe Gray, Madi Cooksey, Lauren Winningham, Erica Branham, Callie Turner, and Keagan Walden. In the back row from left to right are: Coaches Mike Morgan, Marty Walden, Jessica Cusimano (Babe Ruth Network), and coaches Chad Vincent, and Katresa Collins Winningham. Lauren and Katresa Winningham are residents of Clinton County.

The Burkesville All-Stars went 2-1 in pool play for the week and were defeated in tournament play by Mount Washington, also a Kentucky native team. Burkesville then moved to the consolation bracket, defeated Manassas 3-2, and moved on to the championship game against the undefeated Mount Washington. Burkesville lost the championship game by a final score of, 4-3, earning them the silver medal in the Babe Ruth 8U World Series.
