An effort to bring a live view of an active pair of nesting American Bald Eagles on Dale Hollow Lake, has reached an important milestone.

A project of The Dale Hollow Lake Marina Operator’s Association in cooperation with the Friends of Dale Hollow Lake, it was announced recently that Twin Lakes Telephone has completed the “on-site” installation of the Dale Hollow Lake Eagle Camera.

The live video feed will be up and running soon and at that time, the public will be provided with a web address that will enable live viewing of the Dale Hollow Lake Eagle camera.

The nest has been the home of one of several known pairs of nesting eagles on Dale Hollow Lake for the past six seasons and the nest has produced over 12 baby eagles in the past six years.

The live view of the nest, located in the vicinity of Sunset Marina in neighboring Pickett County, Tennessee, will be produced where interested viewers can watch the various stages of the eagle’s life such as nest building, egg laying, egg hatching, and eagle fledging.

Clinton County native Tom Allen, manager and co-owner of Sunset Marina, has been one of the instrumental leaders in getting this project up and running.

During the past few weeks, while the installation of the camera equipment was being completed, the pair of nesting eagles were not spending time in the nest as they were busy teaching the latest pair of eaglets how to fly and hunt.

Twin Lakes Television Viewers will also have access to a dedicated TV Channel featuring the Dale Hollow Lake Eagle Camera.

The Dale Hollow Lake Eagle Camera Project continues to operate a funding web page and are continuing to seek donations needed to finalize its goal of raising $20,000.00 in total funds.

The more than $15,000.00 that has been raised so far has already been spent to acquire the landowner easement and to run electricity to the Eagle Camera Site.

The remaining $5,000.00 needs to be raised to cover some miscellaneous electrical work and contract labor as well as finalize the Dale Hollow Lake Eagle Camera Web-Site.

Everyone who contributes $25.00 or more will be listed on the web-site as a “FOUNDER” of the Dale Hollow Lake Eagle Camera.

Once the camera goes live and the web-site goes live, viewers will have the opportunity to click the “DONATE NOW” button to help keep the Eagle Camera Site up and running for years to come.
