Bulldogs off to 2-1 start, long trip to Webster County Friday

Facing a very good Raider team from McCreary Central, our Bulldogs picked up the first loss of the season Friday night on Bulldog Field, 68-40.

The loss takes Clinton County to a 2-1 mark on this still young season as we head for our first “real” road trip of the season this Friday night with a trip to Webster County (a 12 mile trip to Pickett County doesn’t even get the bus warmed up).

Located in the western region of the Commonwealth, Webster County is just above Hopkins County and will take Bulldog fans nearly to Illinois and just a county away from the Ohio River.

The Trojans will host Clinton County coming into the game with a 0-2 record on the year, with the most recent loss coming this past Friday night in a heavy-handed spanking at the hands of Union County, 47-6.

The Dawgs picked up a win over Webster County in the most recent battle between these two teams with a 34-27 victory when we played host last season.

Good luck Dawgs and safe travels.

Golf teams enjoying a good year

I spend more time around the golf teams than any other of the athletic teams during the fall sports (my beat this time of year), so I’m a little better versed at those results than any other and I must say this is shaping up to be one of the better years for the Golf Dawgs and Lady Golf Dawgs.

Heavily laden with seniors this year, both squads are enjoying success this season.

Our Golf Dawgs enter this week’s competition with a 17-4 overall mark while the Lady Golf Dawgs are holding an also impressive 16-2 mark.

Both squads will be taking their 4th Region All “A” Championship titles to the state level of All “A” competition this Saturday when they travel to Pulaski County.

The Golf Dawgs compete at Eagle’s Nest Country Club while the ladies compete at Woodson Bend Golf Course.

Good luck to both squads as well as to Coach Nick Irwin.
