A tragic accident two weeks ago Wednesday evening has claimed the lives of two Cumberland County teenagers.
According to Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy Jay Wilson, Yolanda Nicole Guerra, 16, of Burkesville, was traveling west on Hwy. 90, 2.6 miles west of Burkesville, in the Grider Community, when she lost control of the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier she was operating due to wet road conditions.
Guerra then struck a 2004 Jeep driven by Johnny Trigg, 52, of Burkesville, and continued sliding sideways in the opposite lane and was struck by a 1972 Chevrolet pickup driven by Cliff Myers, 49, of Glasgow.
Guerra and her front seat passenger, Alisha Mae Wright, 17, of Burkesville, were pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Steve Talbott.
Wright’s sister, Desiree Wright, 14, of Burkesville, a backseat passenger in the Guerra vehicle, was taken to Cumberland County Hospital then airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She was released last Saturday.
Myers, along with Robin Trigg, 52, of Burkesville, a passenger in the Trigg vehicle, was treated and released at Cumberland County Hospital.
Wright was the daughter of Stevie and Melissa Bailey Wright of Burkesville. Guerra was the daughter of Alberto Guerra of Florida and Angela Day Guerra of Burkesville.
