Bulldogs record back on top after Caverna win, back home Friday

The Dawgs turned the season record back to above the .500 mark Friday night with a nice and much needed 51-28 win over the Colonels of Caverna.

Friday night’s victory gave the Dawgs a 3-2 mark as they work this week on the second consecutive home game in this two-game home stand.

The Dawgs will take on the 2A Hornets of nearby Metcalfe County this Friday night on Bulldog Field.

The Hornets will also be taking the field Friday night with a 3-2 season record, coming off a 30-21 win last Friday night over Edmonson County.

Should be another great night for Friday night lights – kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. and the forecast is for clear skies with temperatures in the low 70s.

Soccer Dawgs headed to All ‘A’ State finals

Our soccer Dawgs are to be congratulated again after earning the right to advance out of the All ‘A’ Classic sectional round with a win last Saturday over Owensboro Catholic in Owensboro.

Saturday’s win sends Clinton County to the championship bracket with an opening round match against Louisville Collegiate at 12:00 noon Central time this Saturday in Frankfort at the Capital View Park. A win in that match would see the Dawgs advance to semi-final play later Saturday with a match at 7:00. The championship match is set for 12:00 noon Sunday.

Congrats on a nice win Saturday and taking it to this next championship round. This is the first time the Soccer Dawgs have captured an All ‘A’ Regional title and advance to the state level of the All ‘A’ Classic. Of course, congrats also goes out to Coach Greg Cummings on a nice season so far as well.

Golf Lady Dawgs, Golf Dawgs bring home more championships

Congrats round two this week goes out to our C.C.H.S. Golf Lady Dawgs and the Golf Dawgs.

Both squads came out on top in last Thursday’s District Tournament held at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park.

Going up against Cumberland County and Metcalfe County, our Lady Dawgs and Dawgs came out on top to lay claim to both championship trophies.

Clinton County also brought home the tournament medalist honors as well, with Golf Dawg Kyle Choate besting the entire field with a nice round of 37, while Lady Golf Dawg London Honeycutt finished the tournament in front of the girls’ field after firing a round of 42.

Congrats to both medalists, both teams, Coach Nick Irwin and the volunteer coaches who work with the golf teams all year long.

Golf will be coming to an end this week as far as regular season play is concerned and will move into post-season play next week beginning with the regional tournaments. The girls’ tournament will be Monday, September 26, at Glasgow Country Club while the boys will be playing at Dale Hollow for regional competition on Tuesday, September 27.

Good luck – hit ‘em long and straight.
