The Clinton County Bulldogs took to the home field Friday night as Caverna came into town.

During the first two minutes and six seconds the score was tied at eight each as both teams scored a touchdown as well as a two point conversion.

Clinton County’s defense then began to shine and hold Caverna to minimal scoring for the remainder of the game.

For the Dawgs, seven touchdowns were scored, including three rushing touchdowns by Noah Pruitt, one by Corey Arms, two by Josh Shelton, and one receving touchdown by CJ Smith.

Arms, Jordan Davis, Smith, and Pruitt all had one two point conversion on the night and Dylan Groce kicked an extra point for a total of 51 points for the game.

Pruitt led all rushing yards with 245 and had nine completions for 82 yards passing with one touchdown. Smith finished the game with 56 receiving yards and one touchdown.

On defense, Devon Redmon led with 11 tackles and there were four interceptions for the game including one by Christian Carpenter, two by Smith, and one by Camrick Wright. Noah Miller recovered a fumble for the game.

“I was pretty pleased with the way we started off,” Head Coach Jamie Miller said. “We had a little bit of difficulty defensively and we could have put it away a lot sooner. That’s kind of been our nemesis for the past two games. We’ve played really well in the second half, but in those last two game we were so far behind we couldn’t climb back and it’s hard to take the lead. I think our guys always played better when they were ahead in the game.”

This week, Clinton County will be back at home to host Metcalfe County on Friday night.

“Football is a game of momentum,” Miller said. “Right now, Metcalfe County has the exact same record as we do, 3-2, and they are a strong team. They are physically strong … they are a big team. I think we matchup well with them.”

Kick off for Friday night’s game will be 7 p.m.

Clinton County picked up a first down on this completion Friday night against Caverna. The Bulldogs will be back in action this Friday at Football Field to host Metcalfe County.
