Bulldogs take 3-3 record on the road after 54-20 loss

A couple of key plays early in Friday night’s football game seemed to all but let the air completely out of the Bulldogs’ game plan as they played host to the Hornets of nearby Metcalfe County.

With a really nice home crowd on hand at Bulldog Field for what was a great night for high school football – weather wise – things went south quickly for the Bulldogs and before the night was over, Clinton County found themselves on the wrong side of a mercy rule route, eventually losing the contest 54-20.

Time to put that one behind us and look to what is ahead.

Coach Jamie Miller and staff will work this week to regroup and get the Dawgs ready to take the 3-3 record on the road for a couple of games, beginning with this Friday night’s trip to Lynn Camp to face the Wildcats.

Although Clinton County is a 2A squad and Lynn Camp plays in the 1A division, the Dawgs will certainly have their hands full taking on a nice Wildcat squad that will bring an impressive 5-1 record to Friday’s contest.

Lynn Camp will be coming off of a 40-38 victory from last Friday night when they played host to Jellico, Tennessee.

Good luck to the gridiron Dawgs as they head into Eastern Kentucky for Friday night’s game. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and weather conditions should be a decent one for high school football, with a chance of showers and temperatures in the upper 50s at game time.

Sweatshirts, jackets and an umbrella or rain suit would be a good idea.

Soccer Dawgs bow out of All ‘A’ Stat

After advancing to the Elite Eight in last week’s All ‘A’ Classic State Tournament, the Clinton County boys’ soccer team found themselves up against one of the best teams in Kentucky Saturday in Frankfort when they faced eventual All ‘A’ Classic State Tournament Champions Louisville Collegiate Titans.

Our Bulldogs lost the match 10-0.

Congratulations are still in order to Coach Greg Cummings and the Bulldogs on reaching the second round of play last week – nice run guys.

By the way, the Titans are currently 15-1-1 on the year.

Golf Lady Dawgs end season in regional play, Golf Dawgs bring home more championships

Our Lady Golf Dawgs’ season came to an end on Monday with their play in the regional tournament.

Held at Glasgow Country Club, our Lady Golf Dawgs finished the day with a very, very respectable sixth place finish in the event, out of 20 teams competing in the 4th Region competition this year (not all schools in the region compete on a team level).

Our Lady Dawgs were led Monday by Sam Stinson who came in with a very nice 18 hole round (44-44) or 88. Other Clinton County scores saw London Honeycutt finish with a 93, Macy Campbell with a 102 and Victoria Honeycutt with a 114 for a team total score of 397.

Congrats Lady Golf Dawgs on a great season, as well as to Coach Nick Irwin and staff.

The Golf Dawgs were set to play in regional tournament play on Wednesday of this week, at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Golf Course.
