The Somerset Community College Omicron Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the academic honor society for two-year colleges, recently held an induction ceremony for new members.

In order to qualify for admission to Phi Theta Kappa, a student must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and have earned at least 12 transferable hours, or hours that apply toward their degree.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of community college students to grow as scholars and leaders. The society is made up of more than three million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in nine nations. More than three million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918, with approximately 134,000 students inducted each year.
