Learning Your Lines Theatre Workshop at GNT

Saturday, October 8th beginning at 5:00 pm, a free Learning Your Lines Workshop will be conducted by Steve Cleberg at Good Neighbors Theatre. Light refreshments will be served.

Cleberg has been Director of Theatre at Somerset Community College for the past 30 years.

The Somerset Community College website states the following about Mr. Cleberg’s workshop for actors:

SCC Theatre Director, Steve Cleberg, will conduct this workshop that will offer a proven technique for efficient line learning.

“Most actors see line memorization as that nagging, tedious routine that takes place between the first off-book rehearsal and their performance,” said Cleberg. “It’s a dreaded practice that often leads to procrastination, dismay and even panic. Many actors resign themselves to the fact that struggling with their lines is all part of the process. The fact that they manage to survive only encourages continued practice of haphazard and inefficient approaches to this important part of acting.”

This workshop provides a technique that, once mastered, will make the effort actors put into their approach to acting pay off earlier and more deeply than ever before. You will become an actor who takes pride in your ability to “own your lines” early in the process.

And from the South Central Arts Council Facebook Page about Workshop:

Are you pleased with your current approach to learning lines? Does it give you the freedom to begin making vital discoveries and robust acting choices from your first rehearsal to the end of the rehearsal process? Or do you put an enormous amount of time and effort into memorization only to struggle through rehearsals. Have you ever pondered how much more accomplished you could be as an actor if you had better control of your lines earlier in the rehearsal process?

Anyone interested in acting will certainly benefit from Mr. Cleberg and his Learning Your Lines Workshop. There is no fee and no registration required. Good Neighbors Theater is thrilled to be able to offer this education opportunity to our actors—current, past, aspiring, young people, or adult. All will certainly benefit.
