What is touted as the “oldest” and longest-running sale, the Rollercoaster Yard Sale will be held Thursday through Saturday, September 29 and 20 and October 1 throughout the region, including Albany and Clinton County.

The sale stretches over 150 miles in two states, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Fall foliage is spectacular in the Highland Rim and the Cumberland Plateau. Many scenic, uncrowded highways offer spectacular blankets of color, interesting restaurants, unique shops, craft stores, and small town communities along the way. Come spend some quiet, relaxing, stress-free time in our area during the fall and experience the magic of the fall at Dale Hollow Lake and Lake Cumberland.

Most counties and cities included in the route will offer special promotions and events during the three-day weekend sale.

Restaurants, drive-ins, farmers markets, flea markets, BBQ vendors, antiques, crafts, sovereign items, historic sites, recreation and beautiful scenery can all be found along the sale route from central Tennessee to the south to the Glasgow and Cave City area in Kentucky to the north.

The sale originated back in 1966 in Temple Hill and was then known as the “Rollercoaster Fair” aimed at promoting old Hwy. 63, the Cordell Hull Parkway, from Tennessee to points north and south through Glasgow, Cave City, Tompkinsville and Mud Lick in Kentucky to Celina, Byrdstown, Moss and Livingston in Tennessee.

The route encircles Dale Hollow Lake, through Albany and Burkesville, taking Hwy. 90 west to Glasgow.

Each area and location along the route will have something special and unique to offer visitors, including live music, pancake breakfasts, and fishing tournaments, just to name a few.

Although you will see yard sales set up throughout the county for the next three days, the primary locations for the Albany/Clinton County area is usually downtown Albany, Mountain View Park, and Junction Station, located at the intersections of Hwy. 90, 127 and 734 northwest of town.

Motorists are also reminded that traffic may pick up somewhat over the weekend as visitors travel to find bargains and entertainment events offered in the area. Drivers are asked to watch for slow moving and/or stopped traffic, especially in heavy sales areas.
