Bulldogs will head across state lines Friday night

Our Dawgs suffered a heartbreaking loss Friday night over in Lynn Camp, losing the contest on the gridiron 41-32 to a very nice Wildcat team.

The loss drops Clinton County’s record to a 3-4 mark while Lynn Camp, a very good 1A team, took the win over the Bulldogs to advance it’s record to a very impressive 6-1.

Just to give a little more comparison as to Clinton County’s loss last Friday and the team it came against, Lynn Camp is just two points shy of posting a perfect 7-0 record this season, with the only loss on the Wildcats’ record coming it the season opener when Perry County Central, a 5A school, slipped up on the Wildcats with a 35-34 win.

Up next for the Dawgs will be a trip across the Kentucky – Tennessee state line as we head for Red Boiling Springs this Friday.

It will definitely be a dog fight as the Bulldogs take on the Bulldogs. Our Clinton County Dawgs, with it’s 3-4 record, will face the RBS Dawgs and a 1-5 record.

Friday night’s contest will be another 7:00 p.m. kickoff as the season begins coming to a close with only three more games on the schedule. The final home appearance will be the following week when Clinton County plays host to Jenkins High School for a rare Thursday night game on October 13. After an open week on the schedule, the Dawgs close out the year on the road when they travel to Jackson County on October 28.

Golf Dawgs close out season

Golf season ended last week for the C.C.H.S. Golf Dawgs on the regional tournament level.

Greenwood and South Warren will advance from our region to next week’s KHSAA State tournament in Bowling Green.

Although we failed to advance, Clinton County, both boys and girls, had a very successful season and was fun to cover from my standpoint. Great group of young men and women who represented our blue and white all season long. Congrats to both squads on a nice year.

Clinton County connections at the KHSAA Golf State Tournament

Although none of our current Golf Dawgs made the cut at last week’s regional golf tournament to advance to the upcoming KHSAA Golf State Tournament, the event will still have a couple of strong connections to Clinton County when the guys tee off this Friday and Saturday at Bowling Green Country Club.

At least two golfers are just a generation removed from Albany and Clinton County, both young golfers from the 9th Region in the Lexington area.

Zach Miller finished last week’s 9th Region Tournament as the medalist in the event, leading his Madison Central Indians to a championship. He finished the day with a very impressive 5-under par 67 on the Kearney Hills Links course in Lexington.

Zach Miller is the son of Mike and Sherry Miller of Richmond and of course Sherry is the former Sherry Cravens, the daughter of Loretta Brown and the late Jake Cravens.

Also playing in next week’s KHSAA State Tournament will be the 2015 defending individual champion C.J. Jones, who is the son of Clinton County native Greg Jones. C.J. finished the regional with a one-over par round of 73.

Greg and his wife, Trish, currently live in Frankfort and C.J., who has committed to Ball State University, now plays for Franklin County High School.

C.J. is the grandson of Wayne Jones and the late Betty Clark of Albany.

In addition to competing individually at the state tournament, both players’ teams, Miller’s Madison Central and Jones’ Franklin County, will also be competing in the team state tournament.

Good luck to both in this week’s state tournament!
