A meth lab was dismantled last Thursday in Clinton County that saw numerous items being confiscated and two arrests made.

Clinton County Sheriff’s Department arrested Victor J. Barnes, 31, of Albany and Andrea Ruby, 20, from Celina, Tennessee.

Barnes was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine in the second degree, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, second offense, unlawful possession of a meth precursor, first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Barnes was also charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana (eight ounces to five pounds), possession/use of radio that sends/receives police messages, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and receiving stolen property (firearm).

“This all started out yesterday (Thursday, October 6) at about 8:30 a.m.,” Sheriff Jim Guffey said. “Deputy Rodney Shelton was off duty and he called me and said there were two individuals at Country Mart who appeared to be very intoxicated on something other than alcohol.”

Guffey said he and Deputy Chastin Bell arrived on scene.

“They were so bad we had to call the EMS to pick them up,” Guffey said. “I received enough information from an informant to obtain a search warrant.”

At 2 p.m. on Thursday, Guffey said he, Officer Bell, Detective Tony Wells, Chief Deputy Steve Wilbur from Pickett County, Tennessee and Albany Police Officer Jeremy Ferguson executed a search warrant at 268 Boss Brown Road.

Ruby was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine first offense, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree, first offense, trafficking in marijuana (eight ounces to five pounds) first offense, and possession of marijuana

Guffey said Wilbur had been getting tips on this residence and passed them on to Sheriff Guffey.

“During the search we found parts of a meth lab plus the precursors to manufacture meth,” Guffey said “Also in the back bedroom he had a line hanging across the wall where he had numerous marijuana plants hanging up to dry. There was a lot of shake or trash in the floor where he had been trimming it. Also during the search we found two firearms. One had been reported stolen this Monday morning. It had been reported stolen at Gunnal’s Fishing Camp. There was a total of 17 charges on both of them.”

Guffey said there was also a number of other stolen property recovered.

“There was a lot of miscellaneous hand tools and power tools,” Guffey said. “Several people have been named during this investigation and more warrants are to come.”

Both are lodged in Clinton County Jail and bond has yet to be set.
