About 160 runners were on the move early Saturday morning for the annual Foothills Festival 5K, shown above coming off of the starting line at Mountain View Recreation Park. Jeffery Collins, seen near the middle of the photo wearing number 121, broke out of the middle of the pack to win the event with a time of 19:45. Ashley Duvall, seen at far left in the photo wearing number 108, was the overall female winner with a time of 23:33.

Musical entertainment has always been a big attraction to the Foothills Festival, and since the very beginning of the event, the Clinton County High School Band has entertained the crowd both in a concert setting, shown above, as well as during the Friday afternoon parade. Since the formation of the Clinton County Alumni Band a few years ago, shown below right, the Friday afternoon concert setting has been twice as good for Friday Foothills fans who come out to enjoy the show.

After Brett Gibson had earned the first championship title in the Foothills Festival Hotdog Eating Contest, free hotdogs were passed out to the audience members, and Brett’s Dad, Jeff Gibson, was spotted showing off his hotdog munching form.

Brett Gibson used the method of breaking the hot dog in half then later wetting down the bun to earn the title of champion in the first Foothills Festival Hotdog Eating Contest. Gibson finished off seven hotdogs in the five minutes allotted.

One of the first groups featured in the Friday afternoon Foothills Parade each year is the popular Clinton County High School Marching Band, under the direction of Doug Sell. The group is shown above performing near the Clinton County Courthouse for those gathered around the square to enjoy the parade.

Not all of the musical entertainment during the Foothills Festival happens on stage, nor is it scheduled. Every year a group of local musicians gather around the courthouse to enjoy a little impromptu picking and grinnin’. The musicians, as well as the fans enjoying the show, change constantly throughout the day.
