The Clinton County Football team’s season came to a close Friday night as the Bulldogs traveled to Jackson County. As the final buzzer sounded, Clinton County came out with an 18-8 win and finished the year with a .500 record at 5-5.

“We had an opportunity to finish the year above .500,” Head Coach Jamie Miller said. “We had some players bruised and banged up and the week off really helped us. We practiced all week, but we didn’t have any contact and didn’t wear pads. It helped us focus on our last game.”

For the game, Clinton County’s defense played strong only allowing eight points on the night. On offense, Corey Arms had one rushing touchdown, C.J. Smith had one rushing touchdown as did quarterback Noah Pruitt.

“Our defense played phenominal all night,” Miller said.

Next season the Dawgs will see a few changes on the schedule. Clinton County will no longer travel to Webster County, Trimble County and Jenkins, but will pick up Sunbright as well as Berea and Clay County, Tennessee.

“We will have a different schedule next season and it should be better as far as travel is concerned. Travel distance will be shorter,” Miller said.

Miller said with the change in schedule, and hitting the weights during the offseason, his team should be more focused next season.

“I have a lot of time to prepare my team for our next game which will be in August against Pickett County,” Miller said. “I will give them some time off, but once we start hitting the weights this winter we will be ready. I can’t wait.”
