A prime goal at Good Neighbors Theatre is to provide exposure to youth in the area by getting them actively involved in theatre activities and performance.

GNT will host a one-day theatre competition for area middle and high school students in hopes of perking interest among these young people.

The completion will take place at Good Neighbors Theatre, 8780 Highway 111 in Byrdstown, TNenessee on Saturday, December 3.

Registration (with light refreshments) is at 9:00 AM for the two age groups: 7th-9th grade and 10th-12th grades. Categories will be monologue and scene for two people.

A teen can compete with one performance in each category for their age group. All teens must be accompanied by an adult—either a parent or teacher on the day of the festival.

Also during the morning, Round One of auditions will take place with the judges. Those who score high enough will move to the Final Competition at the end of the day.

The first of three workshops begins at 9:30 AM consisting of Stage Games, Stage Combat, and Improve Skills. These workshops will be conducted by Catlin Corder, Nicholas Kidd, and Montana Daniels.

There will be a lunch break at 11:45 AM, followed at 12:30 PM with notification of those who made the final round of competition.

Final Competition begins at 1:00 PM with performance before all present. While the judges make their decisions, there will be Karaoke.

All participants will receive certificates and the top five in each category performing in the finals will receive pins.

Monologue 1st Place Trophies in both age categories and 2nd Place Medallions for both participants in each age group in the Scene Category will be awarded.
