Clinton Fair board named to receive Kentucky Ag grant

The Clinton County Fair Board has been named as one of five fair boards across Kentucky slated to receive grants from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture earmarked for construction and remodeling use.

According to a press release from Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, the Clinton County Fair Board will receive $80,043.75.

The local fair board will use the funds for construction of new bleachers, remodeling of food booths, and the annououncer’s stand at the fairgrounds. The funds will also be used for the purchase of a new HVAC unit.

“The local fairgrounds are the hubs of our rural Kentucky communities,” Commissioner Quarles said. “It hosts county fairs, livestock shows, and other events that honor Kentucky’s agricultural traditions. These grants will enable local fair boards to provide their citizens an enjoyable fair experience.”

According to the Kentucky Department of Agriculture in announcing the round of fair board grants, each grant will fund 75 percent of the total cost of the project. Each project must be started within 90 days of the date the project was awarded and must be completed within nine months.

Grants may be used for land acquisition, infrastructure or facility improvements, capital construction, or purchase of non-permanent tangible items such as bleachers or restaurant equipment.

Clinton County was one of five fair boards in Kentucky named in this latest round of agriculture grants that totaled $455,000. Additional grants were awarded to Nelson County Fair Board, Harrison County Fair Board, Hancock County Fair Board, and the Isom Day Festival Committee.
