Highway teams win first and second at Bible quiz tournament

The third Kentucky District Teen Bible Quiz of the 2016-2017 season was held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Lexington Lafayette Church of the Nazarene. Two teams from Highway Nazarene Church competed in this round robin tournament with nine other teams. The Highway High team had only one loss on the day and earned first place overall in the tournament.

Highway High is comprised of Blake Melton, Mattie Honeycutt, Saylor Hess, and Lex Marcum. The Highway Way team only had two losses on the day and earned second place overall in the tournament.

Highway Way is comprised of Eli Rains, Ethan Rains, Sidney Alexander, and Shaun Radford.

Four Highway quizzers also placed in the top ten. Individually, Eli Rains was second, Blake Melton was sixth, Ethan Rains was seventh, and Shaun Radford was 10th.

Following the team competition, the top 16 quizzers participated in a six-round quiz off to determine the all-star teams that will compete at the 37th Annual St. Louis Top Ten Tournament. After the quiz off, Eil Rains placed fourth, Saylor Hess placed fifth, Blake Melton placed eighth, and Ethan Rains placed 10th. Eli, Saylor, Blake, and Ethan will represent the Kentucky District at the St. Louis quiz on December 2 and 3. The teams are coached by Ammie Marcum, Teresa Scott, and Sid Scott.
