Giving Tuesday will support Clinton County Senior Center

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District (LCADD), I would like to inform you about an initiative that is taking place on November 29 in support of Clinton County senior citizens.

The Clinton County Senior Center is participating in Giving Tuesday, a campaign to raise money for the Lake Area Foundation’s Senior Services Fund, a permanent endowment designed to help secure the future of senior citizen center programs within LCADD’s ten-county service area.

Our senior centers provide and coordinate responsive programs and services which enhance dignity, support independence, and offer stimulating and meaningful opportunities for adults 60 years of age and older.

The centers serve as the focal points for the delivery of hot lunches, escort service and educational programs. They also provide transportation to seniors who are unable to drive themselves to and from the centers, and they deliver hot meals to elderly, homebound people throughout the region.

Services are currently funded with ever-shrinking federal and state dollars. As government funding becomes more limited, we are seeking more self-sustaining ways to support the program. One way to ensure the future continuation of the program is through the Senior Services Endowment Fund.

Our goal for the Giving Tuesday campaign is to raise at least $10,000 for the endowment fund. We will continue to grow the fund through future donations and earnings. Over time, those earnings will be used to help sustain the senior services program that has become so important to the quality of life of the senior citizens in our region.

I urge all Clinton Countians to support our senior citizens by participating in Giving Tuesday on November 29. For more information, visit www.lakeareafoundation.org, view the Lake Area Foundation’s Facebook page, or call our office at 270-866-4200.

Sincerely,

Darryl McGaha
