Officer Ricky Marcum of the Albany Police Department recently completed S.W.A.T. Instructor School. The training took place at the Knox County, Tennessee Regional Training Facility. The class focused on the basic operations and understandings of SWAT, i.e. SWAT history, liability issues, physical fitness/wellness, equipment/weapons selection, intelligence gathering, rapid deployment, barricaded persons, hazardous warrants, and emotionally disturbed persons. Officer Marcum will begin to instruct local and regional officers in SWAT tactics and operations in that it will increase the level of training and create a safer community.
