Lon D. Cummings, 57, Somerset, Kentucky and formerly of Albany, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Jean Weddle Hospice Care Center. He was retired from the U.S. Army, son of the late John I. and Shirley “Jean” Bokma Cummings. He was also preceded in death by five half-brothers, Marvin, Horace, Raymond, Neb, and Barnel “Buck” Cummings and two half-sisters, Imogene True and Opal Ford.

He is survived by his wife, Ingrid Cummings; a son, John E. Cummings, Danville, Kentucky; a brother, Don (Patty) Cummings; a sister, Peggy Covey, all of Albany; a half-brother, Donald Cummings, New Castle, Indiana; a half-sister, Martha Dean Covert, Greenwood, Indiana; and four nieces, Grace Cummings, Heather (Ted) Scott, and Jennifer and Renska Covey.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Darry Hatfield officiating. Final resting place in Lakeside Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Visitation after 5 p.m. Eastern Time Wednesday, December 14 at the funeral home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Jean Weddle Hospice Care Center. Arrangements were made through Lake Cumberland Funeral Home of Somerset.
