CCMS 6th grade students excel at Academic Showcase

The Clinton County Middle School 6th grade Academic Team competed in the Section 22, 6th Grade Showcase held at Science Hill Elementary on Saturday, December 3. There were six school districts represented in the competition.

The team placed first in overall points standings, taking the championship trophy. The team also placed first in Quick Recall, ending the day undefeated. Several students placed in individual written assessment. Those students were as follows:

1. Sami Criswell (4th in Arts and Humanities and 3rd in Mathematics)

2. Ashton Daniels (5th in Language Arts and 6th in Composition)

3. Evan Little (1st in Science and 1st in Arts and Humanities)

4. Loren Little (1st in Language Arts and 1st in Composition)

5. Sadie Moons (4th in Language Arts)

6. Emma Tompkins (1st in Science)

It is also worth nothing that Evan Little scored the 5th highest score in the entire state of Kentucky in the Arts and Humanities Written Assessment.

The team consists of the following members: Rachael Antle, Ryan Blair, Sami Criswell, Ashton Daniels, Alex Duvall, Evan Little, Loren Little, Sadie Moons, Emma Tompkins, and Adam Whittenburg.

The 6th Grade Showcase Team is coached by Mrs. Danielle Hicks.

The team was recognized Monday evening by the Clinton County Board of Education and were presented medallions by CCMS Principal Teresa Scott, who noted this is the first time since the Showcase has been held that Clinton County has won overall first place.
