The Clinton County Lady Bulldogs dropped two games last week and move to 7-14 on the year. On Wednesday night, Clinton County traveled to Monroe County to take on the Lady Falcons in the semi-finals of the All “A” Classic Regional game. The Lady Dawgs lost the contest 65-26.
On Saturday night, Clinton County hosted Garrard County and despite being within reach of the victory with a minute remaining in the game, Garrard County held on to take the win, 46-35.

In the first quarter, both teams struggled offensively with the first basket coming from Clinton County at the 7:01 mark, followed by the second basket at the 2:51 mark for a 4-0 Clinton County lead.
Garrard County hit a basket with 2:40 remaining and then a free throw at the 1:50 mark, for a first quarter score of 4-3 in favor of the Lady Dawgs.
During the second quarter, Garrard County took the lead early on a free throw and a field goal, 6-4, but Senior Macy Campbell went to the line and knocked down two free throws to tie the game up at six.
Both teams went back and forth for the remainder of the first half with scoring being low for both teams.
Senior Bree Boils hit a three pointer with 40 seconds remaining in the second quarter to tie the game at 12 at the half.
During the third quarter, Garrard County started to pull away from the Lady Dawgs.
Garrard County put together a 12-3 run up to the 1:11 mark, for a 24-15 lead over the Lady Dawgs.
Alexis Roberts hit two free throws during the last minutes of the quarter to cut the lead to seven, but a three pointer shortly after gave Garrard County a double-digit lead, 27-17.
During the fourth quarter, Clinton County began to claw back and got to within four points at the 3:35 mark, 34-30. Garrard County put up four straight points to lead by eight, but a three pointer by Gabby Beaty cut the lead back to five, 38-33, with 1:46 remaining.
The Lady Dawgs only scored two more points for the remainder of the game while Garrard County put up six. Clinton County lost by a final score of 46-35.

Wednesday night’s game didn’t start out the way Monroe County had hoped with Clinton County coming out strong against the highly rated Lady Falcons team.
Senior Allee Hopper drew first blood with a basket for a 2-0 lead. Monroe County answered and took the lead on two field goals.
Boils then knocked down a three pointer to take a one point lead, 5-4, with 4:16 remaining in the first quarter.
Monroe County then put together a 7-0 run to take an 11-5 lead. Alexis Roberts hit a free throw to cut the lead to five, but a basket by Monroe County pushed the lead back to seven with 1:11 on the clock. Senior Mackenzie Polston hit the final shot of the quarter to put the Lady Dawgs within five points to start the second quarter, 13-8.
The second quarter is when Monroe County started to pull away.
The Lady Falcons put together a15-0 run to jump out to a 17 point lead midway through the quarter, 25-8.
Clinton County finished the quarter by scoring only six points compared to Monroe County’s 18 points for a halftime score of 31-14.
During the third quarter, Clinton County scored only nine points to Monroe County’s 24. At the end of three quarter, Clinton County trailed, 55-23.
The fourth quarter didn’t fare well for the Lady Dawgs either as Clinton County only posted three points during the eight minutes.
The Lady Dawgs were defeated and put out of the All “A” Classic Regional Tournament by falling to Monroe County, 65-23.

The Lady Dawgs played Tuesday night, too late for press deadline, against Metcalfe County and will be back at home on Friday night against Allen County/Scottsville. Clinton County will also travel to McCreary County on Saturday for a 7:30 tip off time.
