Upcoming meetings of interest to Clinton ag community

Beekeeper series to continue on February 9

The Clinton and Cumberland County Extension Beekeeper series will continue on February 9th at 6 p.m. CST at the Cumberland County Extension Office. KYDFWR Private Lands Biologist Chris Mason will discuss pollinator habitats. Another meeting is also scheduled for March 9th at 6 p.m. CST at the Clinton County Extension Office.

The topic will be Honey Quality and Marketing (speaker TBA). Refreshments will be served at each session. Call the Clinton County Office at (606) 387-5404 or the Cumberland County Office at (270) 433-7700 to reserve your spot today. These meetings will satisfy CAIP cost-share educational requirements.

Private pesticide applicator meeting to be held February 20

The Clinton County Extension Service will host a private pesticide applicator meeting Monday, February 20th at 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the Extension Office. The meetings will cover information necessary to obtain a private pesticide applicators license.

The private pesticide cards are valid for three years and are required to purchase restricted use pesticides. Please call the Extension Office at 606-387-5404 for more information. These meetings will satisfy CAIP cost-share educational requirements.

Opening Tip Farm Series continues

The Opening Tip Farm Series hosted by the Clinton and Cumberland County Extension offices will continue on February 21st at the Cumberland County Extension Office. Speakers for the meeting will be Brett Wolfe discussing the center for crop diversification and vegetable marketing.

Dr. Tammy Horn Potter will also be on hand discussing beginning Beekeeping. On February 28th, the program will focus on beef cattle marketing with UK Extension Beef Economic Specialist Kenny Burdine as the guest speaker, location is (TBA).

Each session will begin at 6 p.m. CST and costs $8 per session for meals and materials. Please call the Extension Office at 606-387-5404 for more information. These meetings will satisfy CAIP cost-share educational requirements.

Beef Quality Assurance meetings

Two Beef Quality Assurance meetings will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the Clinton County Extension Office. Producers approved for cost-share under the large animal investment area are required to have a valid BQA number.

The BQA meeting will last approximately one hour. BQA certification cost is $5 and valid for three years. More BQA meetings will be planned for the winter, so there will be other opportunities to get BQA certified.
