8th grade Bulldogs compete in state tourney

The Clinton County Middle School 8th grade boys’ basketball team competed in the 2017 boys’ 8th Grade State Tournament in Lexington, Kentucky. Seventy eight teams competed in the tournament. After going 1-1 in pool play, the Bulldogs were given a 3 seed, placing them in the Gold Tournament bracket. There they defeated Middlesboro 46-41, Southern Middle School 40-26, East Oldham 52-29, and Wolfe County 63-30, before losing to Muhlenburg South 53-51 in the finals.

Over 1,000 players competed in the tournament, and three of the team’s players received individual recognition. Chase Stines was named to the 2nd All-Tournament Team, with Nick Brown and Jordan Cash making the Honorable Mention team.

The Bulldogs finish the year with a record of 20-5. The team is coached by Sheldon Harlan, Jason Harlan, and Mark Gibson.
