A local chapter of the Project Healing Waters (PHW) is being organized with the hopes of offering area disabled and American veterans an opportunity to learn and enjoy fly fishing.

Project Leader “Mac” Frank Mackewich, of Albany, is attempting to get the effort underway and will be holding a Fly Fishing, Meet and Fish event Tuesday, February 21, at the Wolf River National Fish Hatchery near Wolf Creek Dam in Jamestown, Kentucky. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m.

The group hopes to hold monthly meetings, with the next meeting being scheduled for Tuesday, February 28, at the Burkesville First Christian Church on the Burkesville, Kentucky square.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.

During this meeting, an expert is scheduled to demonstrate and asnwer questions regarding fly tying. Particiapants are urged to bring any fly tying equipment they already own in order to share with those who do not yet have fly tying equipment.

Veterans and volunteers to help with the events are needed to take this effort forward.
