Class of ‘67 planning meeting

The Clinton County High School Class of 1967 will have a planning meeting for its 50th reunion on Friday, March 3 at 4 p.m. at Junction Station.

Opening Tip Farm

Series continues

The Opening Tip Farm Series hosted by the Clinton and Cumberland County Extension offices will continue on Tuesday, February 28th at the SKRECC building in Albany (note this is a location change). The program will focus on Beef Cattle marketing with UK Extension Beef Economic Specialist Kenny Burdine as the guest speaker.

The session will begin at 6 pm CST and costs $8 per session for meals and materials. Please call the Extension Office at 606-387-5404 for more information.

These meetings will satisfy CAIP cost-share educational requirements.

Nuisance weed spraying demo on first come, first served basis

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) is offering a nuisance weed spraying demonstration to producers.

The demonstration consists of chemical to spray 10 acres of grass pastures or hay fields and a self-contained sprayer.

Producer is responsible for water to fill sprayer and tractor to pull sprayer. The program is limited to seven producers on a first come first served basis. If you are interested in this program, please contact the Clinton County Cooperative Extension Office at 606-387-5404, deadline for the program is Tuesday, February 28th.

4-H Shooting sports to hold

organizational meeting

The Clinton County 4-H program and 21st Century are teaming up to offer the youth of Clinton County the opportunity to be involved in a shooting sports program. If you are between the ages of 9-18 and have an interest in shooting sports, you and a parent or guardian are invited to an organizational meeting on March 7, 2017 at 5:00 pm.at the Clinton County Fairgrounds

Good adult volunteers to help with training are also being sought to help with the program. Background checks are mandatory and forms will be available to all who are interested.

Applications for 2017

4-H Camp

Applications for 4-H Camp will be available on March 6, 2017 and can be picked up at the Clinton County Extension Office during the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday throughy Friday.

Cost of Camp…$205.00

Camp Dates: June 26-30, 2017

Where: Jabez, Ky. 4-H Leadership Center

We will require a deposit of $105.00 to hold your child’s spot. The rest of the camp fee will be due by May 31, 2017.

Park Board meeting

The Clinton County Recreation Park Board is scheduled to hold its regular meeting Thursday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the public.

Little League sign-ups to begin

Clinton County Little League sign-ups will be held each Saturday beginning February 18 through March 18 at IGA from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Forms will be sent out from school or you can pick one up at Albany Full Service. Please bring a copy of each player’s birth certificate.

Russell Honor Guard

seeking members

The Russell County Honor Guard is a 501c3 Veteran Service Organization located in Russell Springs and is currently accepting applications for new members. Membership is free. We are seeking veterans who have a patriotic desire to serve their fellow veterans and provide this much needed service. If you are retired, or work and are only able to assist on weekends, consider our program. We provide military funerals for qualified veterans in Russell and surrounding counties when asked. Our veteran service organization is active in several programs that promote veterans’ awareness. Local Board of Health to meet

The Clinton County Local Board of Health will meet Monday, February 27 at 6 p.m. Central Time. The meeting will be held in the conference room of the health department. The meeting is open to the public.

Benefit motorcycle ride

and craft sale

There will be a motorcycle ride and “That’s Sew Crafty” sale on April 22 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds building. The ride will be $15 for singles, $25 doubles and will begin at 9 a.m. for registration and kick-stands up at 10 a.m. The ride will begin and conclude at the fairgrounds. The cost includes the ride, sack lunch and souvenir patch. Breakfast will be available.

The craft sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include homemade and creative craft goods. There will also be concessions and giveaways. For more information on either event, or for vendor information for the craft sale, call Tatum Cox at 606-307-4982 or email t_cox2010@yahoo.com.
