Senior Jamison Summers drove the lane, put up a shot and was fouled during the first half of Monday’s semi-finals round of the 4th Region Tournament. Summers finished with 8 points.

Senior Colin Langford went up for a short jumper during Monday night’s game against Russellville. Clinton County ended its season with a 73-49 loss.

Senior Kyle Choate pulled up for a jumper during last Wednesday’s first round game against Greenwood. Clinton County defeated the Gators, but were defeated by Russellville in the semi-finals.

Senior John Davis came off the bench and was leading scorer for the Dawgs Monday night with 20 points. Clinton County lost the semi-finals game to Russellville, 73-49.

The Clinton County Bulldogs won its first game of the 4th Region Tournament last Wednesday night against Greenwood, 50-42, but fell in Monday night’s semi-finals round to Russellville, 73-49, ending its season with a 23-10 record.

It was a slow start for the Bulldogs on Monday night in the semi-finals of the 4th Region Tournament held at Western Kentucky University’s Diddle Arena.

Clinton County seemed to be sluggish from the opening minute of the game and couldn’t find its rhythm.

The Dawgs trailed after the first quarter, 16-11. During the second quarter, Russellville begin to slowly pull away. Two minutes into the quarter, the Dawgs found itself down 10 points, 25-15. Three and a half minutes later, Clinton County had pulled to within six, 28-22, but a 9-0 run by Russellville to end the half, gave the Panthers a 17 point lead at the break, 39-22.

Brett Gibson came out and hit a three pointer to start the second half and cut the lead to 14 points, 29-15, but that was as close as the Dawgs would get as Russellville begin to put the game away.

By the end of the third quarter, Clinton County trailed by 31 points, 64-33.

During the fourth quarter, Clinton County couldn’t make up any ground. Although the Dawgs outscored Russellville, 16-9, the damage had already been done.

Clinton County ended its season with the 73-49 point loss.

The Clinton County Bulldogs opened up the 4th Region Tournament with a win against Greenwood on Wednesday night, 50-42.

Wednesday night’s game was sort of a redemption game for the Dawgs as Greenwood defeated Clinton County on December 10, 2016 by 22 points, 70-48.

Clinton County’s game against Greenwood was a much better effort on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

The Dawgs opened up the game a little on the slow side as Greenwood drew first blood with a jumper, 2-0.

Clinton County’s Jackson Harlan knocked down a jumper from the foul line to tie the score, but Greenwood answered with a basket of its own for a 4-2 lead.

Harlan then drained a three pointer to give the Dawgs its first lead of the game at 5-4 with 6:33 on the clock.

Greenwood once again came back and scored to regain the lead by one, 6-5. On the next possession, Jamison Summers knocked down a field goal to take a one point lead at the 5:51 mark, 7-6.

The Dawgs continued to stay strong on defense, and with a basket by Colin Langford, Clinton County went up by three points, 9-6 with 5:10 remaining in the first quarter.

From that point on in the first quarter, Clinton County went cold from the floor as Greenwood begin to make a move for the lead.

The Gators finished the quarter with a 7-0 run for a 13-9 lead after the first quarter.

During the second quarter, Clinton County began to battle back as Langford hit a three pointer to cut the lead to one point, 13-12.

The first five minutes of the quarter was all Clinton County as the Dawgs held Greenwood scoreless. Clinton County wasn’t very productive on offense either, but managed to take a one point lead, 15-13 on a free throw by Langford and one by Harlan.

Greenwood scored its first two points of the period at the 2:51 mark to tie the score at 15.

John Davis scored a basket to regain the lead, 17-15, but a three pointer by Greenwood gave the Gators a one point advantage with 1:32 remaining in the half, 18-17.

Clinton County finished out the half with a 4-1 run to lead the game 21-18.

The Dawgs continued its run in the second half by adding six points to the score board for a 27-18 lead with 6:32 remaining in the period.

Greenwood fought back and cut the lead to two points with 4:07 on the clock, 27-25, but Clinton County regained control and finished the quarter on a 4-0 run, 31-25.

To open up the final quarter, Davis knocked down a three pointer to get Clinton County up by nine points, 34-25.

Both teams swapped baskets during the first two minutes and at the 6:08 mark, Clinton County remained nine points ahead, 36-27.

The Gators then started to slowly chip away at the lead and over the course of two minutes, had cut the lead to three points, 37-34.

A free throw by Summers and a layup by Harlan gave Clinton County a six point lead with 2:46 remaining in the game, 40-34.

Greenwood cut the lead to three points on a three pointer with 2:30 on the clock, 40-37, but two free throws by Harlan, a basket and free throw by Brett Gibson, gave Clinton County an eight point lead with 1:10 on the clock, 45-37.

Greenwood cut the lead to five on a three pointer at the 1:01 mark, 45-40, and continued to get closer on two made free throws with 39 seconds remaining, 45-42.

Clinton County’s defense and ability to make free throws prevailed in the final seconds as the Dawgs hit five of six from the line to end the game with the victory, 50-42.

For the game, Clinton County shot 37.8 percent from the floor, including 3-18 from the three point line. From the foul line, the Dawgs hit 19-27 for 70.4 percent.

Clinton County was outrebounded 40-24, but only had five turnovers for the game compared to Greenwood’s 10.
