Funeral services were held last week for Kay Riddle, a long time elected public official and well-known law enforcement officer from Clinton County.
Riddle, 65, died last Tuesday, July 19, at the Cookeville Regional Hospital. He was a long-time Methodist minister.
Riddle was best known as a long-time Clinton County Sheriff, having served in that office for 13 years. He was also a former Albany City Policeman for four years prior to being elected sheriff.
Politics ran in Riddle’s family history. He was the son of the late Kendrick and Theda Riddle, both of whom served as Clinton County Jailer many years ago.
Riddle’s political career also saw him elected to the Clinton County School Board in the 1980 general election, serving one four-year term on the local board of education.
A complete death notice for Kay Riddle appears in the Clinton County News this week on page 12.
