Susan Shelton, Transition Specialist at Clinton County’s Foothills Academy, was selected by the Kentucky Educational Collaborative for State Agency Children (KECSAC) as its Outstanding Support Person of the year.

She was recognized and honored on Tuesday, July 19, during an awards luncheon as part of KECSAC’s annual conference.

During the ceremony Todd Messer, Principal of Foothills Academy, told those in attendance just how she approaches her duties at the Academy as a Transition Specialist.

“Susan has a tremendous rapport with our students. She treats each of them with respect and dignity while providing support, empathy, encouragement, disappointment, strength, and motherly advice,” Messer said. “She consistently demonstrates a tireless work ethic with a sincere desire to see our students have a successful transition to and from Foothills Academy.”

Mrs. Shelton has been employed by the Clinton County School District since 2003, with seven of those years being spent at Foothills Academy.

She is married to Jeff Shelton and they have two children, Nathan Shelton and Amber Carr.
