On April 29, volunteers are invited to pick up litter along lake roads during the seventh annual Dale Hollow Spring Cleanup. Hundreds of volunteers are expected, and they will receive a free lunch and entered into a drawing for door prizes. Free t-shirts will be given away, while supplies last.
“‘A Generation of Change’ is our Spring Cleanup theme this year. As PRIDE celebrates its 20th anniversary, we have certainly seen a change in the landscape of southern and eastern Kentucky,” said PRIDE’s Tammie Wilson. “People are concerned with protecting their environment and teaching their children why it is important as well. We’ve made great strides in keeping the region clean over the last two decades.”
“The Dale Hollow Spring Cleanup continues to grow each year and I want to thank the local sponsors for their leadership,” Wilson added. “They are the Cumberland County Fiscal Court, Clinton County Fiscal Court, Dale Hollow State Resort Park, Hendricks Creek Resort and Sulphur Creek Resort.”
On April 29, volunteer registration will begin at 9 a.m. CT at these locations: Clinton County Courthouse, Hendricks Creek Dock, Sulphur Creek Dock and the Dale Hollow State Resort Park picnic area.
At registration, volunteers will receive trash bags, gloves and safety vests. They will be directed to an area to clean. Safe, age-appropriate cleanup areas will be available for groups with children, such as schools and churches. All volunteers should dress appropriately for working outdoors in the weather that morning. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
From 10 a.m. until noon, volunteers will pick up litter along the roads around the lake. At noon, volunteers will gather for a free cookout at the picnic area at Dale Hollow State Resort Park. The door prize drawing will be held following the cookout.
The Dale Hollow Spring Cleanup is part of the PRIDE Spring Cleanup campaign across 42 counties of southern and eastern Kentucky. The region-wide PRIDE Spring Cleanup is sponsored by Walmart, Kentucky’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, The Tennessee Valley Authority, Kentucky Utilities and Kentucky American Water.
