Carl W. Guffey, 96, Alpha, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 28 at his home. He was the son of the late Samuel W. and Nora Marcum Guffey, a veteran of World War II, a retired farmer and lifelong member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Perdue Guffey, and three brothers, Velan, Virgil and Connie Guffey.
He is survived by three daughters, Esther (Gayron) Thrasher; Sue (Mike) Owens, Albany; Sharon (Kenneth) Ward) Taylorsville, Kentucky; four sons, Jimmy C. (Sallie) and Jacky D. (Geraldine) Guffey, Alpha, Kentucky; Paul R. (Sue) Guffey, Somerset, Kentucky; Bobby D. (Linda) Guffey, New Albany, Indiana; special friend, Etta Bruce, Albany; also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Talbott Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Burchett officiating. Final resting place will be in Davis Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are being made through Talbott Funeral Home of Albany.
